In the perspective of the International Conference of Bamako on Avian and Human Influenza to be held on December 6-8, 2006, a multi-institutional Task-Force composed of experts from OIE, FAO, IBAR, WHO and UNICEF has been appointed under the auspices of the ALive partnership, to elaborate the Needs and Gaps for Africa Paper which will be presented during the Conference and will serve as a technical and financial support for the three day meeting, notably the pledging session for Africa.
To elaborate this important document and assess the gaps as relevantly as possible, the Task-Force will visit the African Regional Economic Communities and will collect information from them and their member countries.
The ALive Platform will be closely involved in the preparation of the Paper and in particular will ensure that all African partners fylly endorse it.
The finalized document is tentatively expected by November 20, 2006 to be then circulated to all donors for the preparation of the pledging session.
