ANALYTICAL SUPPORT AND OPERATIONAL ASSISTANCE - First Generation Livestock-PRSP - IEPC

  • Activity Proposal

From 2001 to 2004, the World Bank, in collaboration with the Investment Centre of the FAO and two African countries, Mauritania and Burkina Faso, conducted two diagnostic studies named “Initiatives Elevage Pauvreté Croissance (IEPC)”.

The objective of these two studies was to develop strategic approaches to reconciling poverty alleviation and economic growth and tying poverty reduction to economically viable activities, products and chains of production.

The results show that these diagnoses of the livestock sector, approved by the national government and integrated into sector planning documents have motivated donors to invest in the sector.
